From Sketch to Layered Asset in Five Steps

The gap between a sketch and a shareable asset isn't drawing skill — it's structure. A sketch answers 'what does it look like'; an asset answers 'what can someone else do with it'. The five steps below are the bridge between those two questions.

First, block the composition in flat shapes on separate layers. Second, group by region and name as you go. Third, split anything you expect users to recolor or swap onto its own layer. Fourth, add effects as their own non-destructive layers. Fifth, snapshot, then export a flattened preview alongside the layered source.

The fifth step is the one everyone skips and everyone regrets. The preview is what people browse; the layered source is what they buy into. Shipping both, every time, is what makes an asset feel professional before anyone opens it.
